On May 5, 2023, the South Kivu province reported widespread flash flooding that has killed more than 400 people with 5500 people still unaccounted for. This providence is right next to Bukavu, near Kavumu and Luwindja.  People affected by loss of their families and homes are in need of food and clothing.
